Barcelona is working toward a large-scale investment agreement with investors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to boost global expansion and reinforce its financial position. The agreement includes developing a high-end residential project in Dubai, branded with the FC Barcelona name.
This full-scale development includes sky-high towers, upscale residences, and community facilities in Dubai, carrying the Barcelona identity. Its design reflects the excellence, creativity, and passion that shaped Barca’s golden era under iconic legends: Cruyff, Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, and Lamine Yamal. It is similar to Chelsea’s Chelsea Residences by Damac, a luxurious residential development prominently centered on the club brand.
Xavi and Iniesta, the soul of Barca’s legendary midfield, epitomized the intelligence, possession, and artistry – values now reflected in Dubai through this unique development. This residential development reflects Barca’s legacy, bringing Catalan football prestige to the UAE.
Barcelona is planning to launch a similar project, which is expected to generate €10 million or more per year in revenue. The deal will also include replacing the current back-of-shirt sponsor, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), with a logo tied to an investment beginning in July.
In December, Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, visited Dubai to initiate the deal, with part of the investment paid in advance. The deal has not been officially announced. A final approval from the club’s general assembly (socios) is pending.
Football Club Barcelona, also known as FC Barcelona, is based in Barcelona, Spain. It was established in 1899 by Swiss, Catalan, German, and English players under the leadership of Joan Gamper. It is owned and operated by its supporters, unlike other football clubs. It is the third-most valuable football club in the world.
